1. Parents, if you placed a Market Day order, your order will be delivered to our school cafeteria on Wednesday, May 9 at 4: 30p. Once again, thank you so much for supporting our monthly Market Day fundraiser. If you have any questions please contact Nikki Goodlow at 317.833.8376.

2. Parents, please remember that it is vitally important that your students arrive to school on time every day. If you are bringing your child to school after 8:15AM, you will need to come into the front office to sign them in. This is the only way that your child’s tardy will be excused. We have seen an overall improvement in our attendance and would like to see this remain consistent until the very last day of school. The following classrooms will be awarded for achieving the highest amount of perfect attendance days for their grade level for the month of April:

3. The Spring Carnival is Coming!! Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 19. Imagine East will host our 3rd annual Academic Carnival in our parking lot from noon-4:00. There will be FREE food, games and fun!! Fliers will be coming home in a few days. We can’t wait to see you there - Saturday, May 19th!!!!

4. Mark your calendars! Our monthly board of Directors meeting will be held Monday, May 14th at 6PM. Parents, you are more than welcome to attend this meeting which will be held in the school’s conference room.

5. Did you know that this week is National Teacher Appreciation Week? That’s right, this week is set aside to honor educators all around the nation. Please take the time this week to send your child’s teacher a personal thank you card or note to let him/her know how much you appreciate the impact they are having in your child’s life. I am sure that they will be pleased to know that they are appreciated. We have a wonderful group of dedicated educators here at Imagine East and are thankful for each and every one of them.

6. Parents, please make sure that you are sending all students to school Monday through Friday in the proper uniform. We know that the weather is getting nice, but there still is a dress code to follow. Students should come to school in the proper uniform unless we are having a planned dress down day. We will notify you via Sunday @ 7, phone blast, or flier when the students have dress down days. The proper uniform for K-5 is a yellow or navy polo shirt with navy or khaki bottoms and the proper uniform 6-8 is a red or white polo shirt with navy or khaki bottoms. Also, please be mindful that if shorts and skirts are worn they should hit your child’s knees. Please help us in enforcing our school-wide uniform policy.

Carnival Time is Almost Here!

FREE Food! FREE Games! FREE Fun! Imagine East will host our 3rd annual Academic Carnival on Saturday, May 19 from noon-4:00 at the school, located at 4352 N. Mitthoeffer Road. This year’s Carnival will feature three bouncehouses, numerous games, prizes, academic displays, music, dancing, a FREE cookout, bake sale, face painting and much more. Current Imagine families are encouraged to bring friends who might be looking for a new school home – school tours and registration information will be available. Please bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the cookout. See you there!

Imagine East Aids Community Recycling Efforts

Do you have old newspapers, magazines, paper bags or cardboard boxes? Would you like to help the environment and your local school at the same time? Imagine East now has a paper recycling bin in our front parking lot, facing Mitthoeffer Road. Feel free to drop off your recycleable paper into the green and yellow Paper Retriever bin – you will be benefitting our environment and benefitting our school.

1. Our third – eighth grade students will take be taking the second portion of the ISTEP assessment next week. The students will be taking the multiple choice portion of the state assessment during that week. In the upcoming weeks, please encourage your child to practice and review math facts and to read at least thirty minutes every night. Please go to the Indiana Department of Education website to look at sample test items to help prepare your child for this important assessment.

2. Our Upper Academy will host their first spring dance this month. A Night Out in Hollywood will be the theme of the , 7th& 8th grade school dance which will be held April 27th from 7-9 at Imagine East in the Cafeteria. Only current students in good standing will be allowed to participate. Parents may come to take pictures. We will have a professional photographer on site if you want to send money. Please look for more information to be sent home in regards to the dance in the upcoming weeks.

3. Our next C.A.R.E Crew meeting will be on Monday, April 30 at 6 PM.

Imagine Students Visit Fire Station

Students from Imagine East took a walking field trip to Fire Station #2 last week to see first-hand how firefighters use equipment and tools to keep our community safe. Mrs. Bethany Martin’s students first learned about firefighters and their equipment during reading group activities. Visiting the fire station gave the students the opportunity to see for themselves what fire fighting equipment looks like and how it is used. “I don’t know if I could drive that huge truck,” said one fourth grader after making the trip, “but I’m sure glad the firemen know how to do it!”

Imagine East would like to thank Home Depot and our parent volunteers for helping beautify our playground and repaint some of our interior areas this past weekend! Thanks to a Home Depot grant totaling $5,820 Imagine East is now the proud home of a re-landscaped playground complete with benches and picnic tables.

Numerous volunteers from Home Depot joined Imagine East students, staff and parents during the two-day project.
